Operation Theatres

At IPIMS Hospital, our Operation Theatres (OTs) are built for one purpose — to give every patient the safest, most precise surgical experience possible. Whether it is a planned procedure or an emergency surgery performed in the middle of the night, our theatres are equipped, staffed, and ready at all times.

Located on the Main G.T. Road, Panipat, IPIMS Hospital houses a suite of state-of-the-art operation theatres serving patients from across Panipat, Sonipat, Karnal, and the surrounding region.

Our Operation Theatre Complex

IPIMS Hospital’s OT complex is a fully integrated, sterile surgical environment designed to support a wide range of surgical specialties — from routine elective procedures to complex emergency operations.

Each operation theatre at IPIMS is built to international standards of surgical hygiene and patient safety. Our theatres operate under positive pressure ventilation with HEPA filtration, maintaining a near-zero infection environment during every procedure. The surgical lighting systems, operating tables, and anaesthesia equipment are regularly maintained and upgraded to ensure optimal outcomes.

Key Features of Our OT Complex:

  • Multiple modular operation theatres — dedicated for general, orthopaedic, gynaecological, laparoscopic, and emergency surgery
  • 24×7 emergency OT availability — trauma and life-threatening cases operated upon at any hour
  • Laminar airflow systems to maintain sterile conditions
  • High-definition surgical lighting for precision procedures
  • Advanced anaesthesia workstations with multi-parameter patient monitoring
  • Dedicated scrub areas and sterile instrument processing units
  • Immediate access to ICU and post-operative recovery ward

💉 Anaesthesia: Safe, Personalised, Monitored

No surgery is complete without expert anaesthesia care. IPIMS Hospital's team of qualified anaesthesiologists evaluates every patient before surgery, selects the most appropriate anaesthesia type, and monitors vital signs continuously throughout the procedure.

Types of Anaesthesia Provided

🛌 General Anaesthesia

Patient is fully unconscious; used for major surgeries.

🦵 Spinal / Epidural

Numbs the lower body; commonly used for C-sections and orthopaedic procedures.

💊 Local Anaesthesia

Numbs a small area; used for minor procedures.

😴 Sedation

Light unconsciousness for short diagnostic or minor procedures.

Pre-Surgery: What to Expect

  • If you are scheduled for a planned (elective) surgery at IPIMS Hospital, here is what the process looks like:

    1. Surgical consultation — Your surgeon explains the procedure, risks, benefits, and alternatives. All your questions are answered.
    2. Pre-operative investigations — Blood tests, ECG, chest X-ray, and other relevant tests are done to ensure you are fit for surgery.
    3. Pre-anaesthetic check — An anaesthesiologist reviews your case.
    4. Consent — Written informed consent is taken from the patient or their guardian before any procedure.
    5. Fasting instructions — You will be asked not to eat or drink for a specific period before surgery (usually 6–8 hours for solids).
    6. Admission — You are admitted to the hospital, typically the evening before or on the morning of surgery.
    7. Pre-op preparation — The surgical site is cleaned, prepared, and marked. You are given a surgical gown and shifted to the pre-operative holding area.

Post-Surgery: Recovery and Care

  • After surgery, you are moved to the Post-Operative Recovery Room (PACU) — a monitored space where nurses observe your vital signs as the anaesthesia wears off.

Once your condition is stable, you are shifted to the appropriate ward or ICU depending on the nature of the surgery. IPIMS Hospital’s post-operative nursing team monitors for pain, wound condition, bleeding, and any early signs of complications.

Your surgeon will visit daily and guide you through:

    • Pain management
    • Wound care and dressing changes
    • Diet and activity restrictions
    • Discharge planning and follow-up schedule

Most patients undergoing laparoscopic (minimally invasive) procedures are discharged within 24–48 hours. Major open surgeries may require a longer hospital stay.

🛡️ Infection Control and Patient Safety

Surgical site infections (SSIs) are one of the most preventable complications in surgery — and at IPIMS Hospital, infection control is a non-negotiable priority.

Our OT Complex Follows Strict Protocols

✔️ All surgical instruments are sterilised through autoclaving before every use
✔️ Single-use disposable items are never reused
✔️ Surgical team members follow full scrub protocol before entering the OT
✔️ Patient skin preparation is done with antiseptic solutions before incision
✔️ Prophylactic antibiotics are administered as per surgical protocol
✔️ Regular microbiological monitoring of OT air and surfaces is conducted
