EEG, EMG, VEP, BERA

Your nervous system is the ultimate command center of your body. The brain, spinal cord, and miles of peripheral nerves work together seamlessly to control everything you do—from moving your fingers and processing what you see, to regulating your heartbeat.

However, when this complex “wiring” experiences a glitch, it can result in unexplained seizures, chronic numbness, muscle weakness, or sudden vision and hearing loss. Because you cannot simply look at a nerve on a standard X-ray to see how well it is working, doctors rely on specialized electrical tests.

At IPIMS Hospital, Panipat, our advanced Neurodiagnostics Department utilizes cutting-edge technology to measure the electrical activity of your brain, nerves, and muscles. By performing highly precise tests like EEG, EMG, VEP, and BERA, our expert neurologists can pinpoint exactly where a neurological breakdown is happening, paving the way for targeted, life-changing treatments.

986What is an ECG (Electrocardiogram)?

An ECG is a completely safe, non-invasive, and painless test that records the electrical activity of your heart over a period of a few seconds.

During the test, a technician will place small, sticky sensors (called electrodes) on your chest, arms, and legs. These sensors are connected to a machine that detects the tiny electrical impulses generated by your heart. The machine translates these signals into a wavy line graph printed on paper or displayed on a digital screen.

By looking at the shape, speed, and timing of these waves, a cardiologist can instantly tell if your heart is beating normally, if it is working too hard, or if a section of the heart muscle is damaged.

(Note: While a 2D Echo looks at the physical “plumbing” and mechanical pumping of your heart, an ECG looks strictly at the “wiring” and electrical rhythm. Together, they provide a complete picture of your cardiac health.)

When is this Procedure Used? (Common Indications)

Because it is fast, safe, and highly informative, an ECG is usually the very first test performed when a heart issue is suspected. Your physician or emergency doctor will recommend an ECG if:

  • You Experience Chest Pain: To immediately determine if a heart attack is currently happening or has happened in the past.
  • You Feel Palpitations: To investigate a heart that feels like it is fluttering, racing, or skipping beats (Arrhythmias).
  • You Have Unexplained Symptoms: Such as sudden shortness of breath, severe dizziness, fainting spells, or extreme fatigue.
  • You Are Preparing for Surgery: A routine pre-operative ECG ensures your heart is strong enough to safely handle anesthesia and surgery.
  • You Are Managing Chronic Conditions: To routinely monitor the effects of high blood pressure, diabetes, or cholesterol on your heart, or to check if your current heart medications are working correctly.

Detailed Neurodiagnostic Services We Offer

Our neurodiagnostics department is equipped with advanced technology to evaluate brain, nerve, muscle, and sensory pathway functions with high precision.

1

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

A safe and painless test that records the brain’s electrical activity using scalp electrodes. It is primarily used to diagnose epilepsy, seizures, and other neurological conditions affecting brain function.

2

EMG & NCV (Muscle & Nerve Testing)

These tests evaluate the health of muscles and peripheral nerves. They are essential for diagnosing conditions like nerve damage, muscle disorders, sciatica, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

3

VEP (Visual Evoked Potential)

This test measures how the brain processes visual signals, helping detect optic nerve damage and neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis.

4

BERA (Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry)

An objective hearing assessment that evaluates the auditory pathway from the ear to the brain, widely used for infants, children, and patients unable to undergo standard hearing tests.

Why Choose IPIMS Hospital for Neurodiagnostics?

Neurological testing is incredibly delicate and requires specialized equipment and brilliant minds to interpret the data. Here is why IPIMS Hospital is the trusted neurology center in Panipat:

  • Expert Neurologists: These highly specialized tests are conducted and interpreted by senior neurologists and trained neuro-technicians who possess years of experience in identifying microscopic electrical abnormalities.
  • Advanced Shielded Equipment: Electrical interference in the environment can ruin neuro-tests. We use the latest generation of shielded, digital neurodiagnostic machines to ensure pure, artifact-free readings.
  • Pediatric-Friendly Care: Tests like BERA and EEG are frequently performed on children. Our staff is specially trained to keep pediatric patients calm, comfortable, and often asleep (naturally or safely sedated) to get accurate results without trauma.
  • Integrated Neurological Care: If a test reveals a nerve or brain issue, there is no need to travel. Our hospital features a complete neurology, neurosurgery, and physiotherapy wing to begin your treatment immediately.

A Seamless, Reassuring Patient Experience

We understand that undergoing tests involving your brain or nerves can sound intimidating. We have designed our neurodiagnostic wing to prioritize your comfort and peace of mind:

  • Clear, Step-by-Step Guidance: Our technicians will explain every single step of the test before it begins, so there are no surprises.
  • Safe & Tolerable: Tests like EEG, VEP, and BERA are 100% painless. While an EMG involves mild discomfort (often described as a small pinch or a static shock), our expert doctors use ultra-fine needles and work quickly to minimize any physical stress.
  • 100% Transparent Pricing: No hidden fees or surprise costs—just honest, upfront pricing for your specialized neurological tests.
  • Rapid Reporting: Your neurodiagnostic data is evaluated quickly by our specialists. Detailed, accurate reports are delivered directly to your phone or your consulting physician to ensure your treatment stays on track.
